How many knows that
HP is one of the world leading provider in security services? We usually think about HP for printers, computers, datacenters but if we make a pool hardly we will find HP associated to security.
Nevertheless HP services are focused also on security, with big worldwide customers, and now is making its position more strong investing time resources and people to develop furthermore this area.
One of the clearest sign that HP is moving towards a more aggressive, complete and focused offering in security is Arthur Wong joining HP as senior vice president, Enterprise Security Services. I knew Arthur in my Symantec the past (not sure although he could remember me, lol). Art is a well-known security leader who has successfully developed security IP and founded several companies. He spent seven years with Symantec, he started Symantec’s first SaaS business and helped turn around its Managed Security Services business.
Art also served as Symantec’s SVP, New Business Investments & Incubator, with responsibility for driving innovation across the company and building new capabilities. Most recently, he was CEO of Sunnyvale, California-based IronKey, a leader in providing secure managed portable storage, authentication, and trusted virtual computing.
Arthur Wong is one of those people that consider security a winning business and his joining means that ESS (Enterprise Security Services) are getting really serious and aggressive.
I think the move is particularly smart since security is becoming every day more complex and hard to manage, skills required are cross platforms\products and so it is quite a nonsense to implement all required knowledge and process inside the company, better to use a multi-vendor platform service that could provide a better effective and efficient security coverage. at the moment this area is still quite under-covered but HP move will shake this market.
